Majority oppose public funding of Planned Parenthood - 133 participants

A controversial video released in July that allegedly showed a top Planned Parenthood official discussing fetal tissues sales from abortions led to a condemnation of the agency by the state Republican executive committee. In the wake of the controversy, the Live Free or Die Alliance (LFDA) asked Facebook members, "Should NH continue to dedicate public funding to Planned Parenthood?"

Participation: 133 participants gave 651 responses

A total of 91% of those participating gave a ‘yes or no’ response to the question. The remaining 9% of participants engaged in the discussion but did not give a ‘yes or no’ response. What Participants Said:

No: A strong majority, at 67% of ‘yes or no’ respondents, were in favor of granting children free admission to state parks.  

  • “It’s a money making organization and requires no federal tax money. We are in too much debt as it is and by 2018 it will be over 20 trillion dollars."
  • “Stop using tax payer money to destroy lives.”
  • “It has been and continues to be a breach of sound government, particularly when so many people object to some of their ‘services'.”

Yes: The minority of ‘yes or no’ respondents, at 33%, were opposed to granting children free admission to state parks.

  • “It helps young adults with information they cannot acquire in schools.”
  • “It also helps low income women with birth control and screenings.”
  • “They provide many services to women in our community—breast health screenings, cervical, health and STD screenings, birth control. They also provide great prenatal care.”

Other: As noted above, 9% of those participating did not give a ‘yes or no’ response, instead addressing their comments to related questions and issues.
