What Counts as a Good Question in 2017?

Alyssa Mastromonaco, author of the New York Times bestselling book Who Thought This Was a Good Idea?: And Other Questions You Should Have Answers to When You Work in the White House will sit down with the Institute’s executive director, Neil Levesque, to share her stories as the youngest woman ever to be Deputy Chief of Staff of Operations at the Obama White House, where she served as assistant to the president and deputy chief of staff for operations from 2011 to 2014.

She was responsible for running and managing the whole 18-acre White House compound – including the 1,700+ employees in the Executive branch – ensuring that the entire department ran smoothly, even when the rest of the government did not. Through her tenacity, ingenuity and sheer determination, Alyssa instituted an array of new strategies and processes that kept the White House up and running efficiently throughout a ceaseless series of budget cuts, international crises and even a government shutdown.

Mastromonaco currently serves as president, global communications strategy and talent at A+E Networks, encompassing A&E, Lifetime, History, MN, FYI, and Viceland. In this role, she oversees the global media company’s communications-strategy and human-resources divisions. Prior to her role at A+E Networks, Mastromonaco was chief operating officer for Vice Media.

A book sale and signing will follow the discussion.
