Community college tuition freeze

This week the Community College System of New Hampshire (CCSNH) announced a tuition freeze.

The tuition freeze follows a 5% tuition decrease last year.

In a press release Gov. Maggie Hassan (D) praised CCSNH for increasing access to the higher education and “helping develop a stronger workforce pipeline.”

However, according to data from the College Board, New Hampshire’s public two-year colleges still have the second highest tuition and fees in the U.S.

Some legislators argue that New Hampshire state government needs to contribute more to its public colleges to help further decrease tuition.  Other legislators argue that there are higher priorities for cash-strapped New Hampshire, such as funding for drug abuse treatment.
