Mark Connolly, Former Deputy Secretary of State and Director of Securities Regulation, has officially joined the Democratic race for New Hampshire Governor.

Connolly was in office during the investigation of the Financial Resources Mortgage (FRM) Ponzi scheme. Connolly resigned in 2010 and wrote a book alleging the state had covered up mismanagement of the FRM scandal.

Connolly's website states, "Throughout these experiences of making a life in New Hampshire, Mark has come to believe individual hard work and determination are crucial to success, but we all need a helping hand. Support and opportunity offered by neighbors and community, good schools, and a strong economy are vital to helping every Granite Stater achieve his or her dreams."

So far the only other Democrat to declare is Executive Councilor Colin Van Ostern.  Both candidates support a southern New Hampshire commuter rail and the state contract with Planned Parenthood.  They differ on casino gambling; Connolly opposes a casino but Van Ostern is more open to expanded gambling.
