Gov. Chris Sununu announced he will nominate Anna Barbara ("Bobbie") Hantz Marconi of Stratham to serve as the next Associate Justice of the New Hampshire Supreme Court.

If the Executive Council approves her nomination, Marconi will be the third woman ever appointed to the court.

Marconi is an attorney and shareholder at Sheehan, Phinney, Bass & Green, P.A.  She focuses on civil rather than criminal law.  After graduating from Chicago Kent College of Law in 1992, she served as a judicial law clerk to Justices Caroline Glassman and Robert B. Clifford of the Maine Supreme Judicial Court.

Her other experience includes Governor John Lynch's Judicial Selection Commission, the Board of New Hampshire Legal Assistance, and the New Hampshire Bar Pro Bono Referral Program and Domestic Violence Emergency (DOVE) Project.

The New Hampshire Supreme Court decides many legal issues without partisan implications, but sometimes a major case – such as the Claremont decision on school funding – can have a major impact on state policy.

If Marconi has any partisan leaning, it seems to be conservative.  She is vice chairman of the board at the Josiah Bartlett Center, a free-market think tank.  Although she gave no campaign donations in 2016, in 2014 she donated to Marilinda Garcia, Frank Guinta, and Scott Brown.
