2nd chance for Antrim wind farm?

In July the state Site Evaluation Committee (SEC) will decide if it will reconsider a proposal for a small wind power plant in Antrim, New Hampshire.

The SEC rejected the proposal in 2013 because of the "unreasonable adverse (visual) effect" on the region, particularly the Willard Pond Sanctuary.

This time Aeolian Renewables - the company behind the wind farm - revised the proposal to remove one tower and shorten another.  In a letter to the SEC, the company also noted that the Antrim board of selectmen unanimously supports the project.

Wind farm opponents maintain that the negative visual impact is just one of many reasons to oppose wind farm development.  Opponents argue wind farms are not cost effective, disrupt the local environment, and threaten the health of nearby residents.
