Oregon recently put into effect a new law which allows pharmacists to prescribe birth control after completing a training course. Pharmacists may prescribe oral contraceptives or other hormonal contraceptives themselves, or may refer a patient to a physician in more complicated cases.

On Wednesday, June 29 the New Hampshire Executive Council will vote on a contract to provide $550,000 to Planned Parenthood for family planning services.

If passed, SB 154 would make oral contraceptives available without a prescription.

According to the bill, pharmacies, including mail-order pharmacies, could dispense oral contraceptives "to persons 18 years of age or older without a prescription after an initial consultation with a licensed or certified health care provider."
