Eversource Energy (formerly PSNH) has agreed to sell its power plants as part of a settlement agreement with the state.

In return, Eversource Energy will be able to recover any losses on the power plants through electricity rate increases.  Those losses include most of the cost to install a controversial mercury pollution scrubber at the coal power plant in Bow.

The commission responsible for setting electricity rates in New Hampshire has approved a rate increase to fund energy efficiency.

The Public Utilities Commission (PUC) approved an Energy Efficiency Resource Standard (EERS) for New Hampshire utilities. The EERS requires utilities to achieve a certain reduction in electricity and gas sales through energy efficiency measures.

Eversource is taking the state to court over whether electricity rates can cover the cost of natural gas pipelines.

This past fall Eversource asked the Public Utilities Commission (PUC) if it could enter a twenty-year contract to purchase natural gas from the Access Northeast pipeline, with the costs covered by an increase in the electricity rate for Eversource customers.
