This week a House committee heard testimony on HB 593, a bill that would allow qualifying medicinal marijuana patients to grow marijuana at home.

A home-growing option was removed from the medicinal marijuana law passed in 2013.  Another home-growing proposal failed last year.

This week the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services announced it had chosen three companies to operate four medical marijuana treatment centers in the state.  The companies must now find towns or cities willing to host them.

The locations of two of the state’s four medical marijuana treatment centers were proposed earlier this month in Plymouth and at a business park in Lebanon. 

The proposals must now meet with approval from local zoning boards.

The New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) has scheduled public forums in August to discuss four possible medical marijuana dispensary and cultivation sites.

On Monday, November 2 the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) announced it will start accepting applications from medical marijuana patients.

DHHS is calling this a “pre-registration period” because patients will not be able to use medical marijuana until a medical marijuana dispensary opens.  DHHS says they expect the first dispensary to open in early 2016.

Linda Horan, a 64 year-old NH woman with terminal lung cancer, has filed a lawsuit against the NH Department of Health and Human Services, demanding they issue her an identification card that would allow her to legally purchase medical marijuana in Maine.
