Road Safety

New Hampshire's road safety laws cover insurance requirements, seat belt use laws, and regulations on what you can and can't do while driving. These policies are aimed at ensuring citizens freedom of movement while imposing reasonable restrictions to ensure public safety.

New Hampshire is one of the few states without an adult seat belt requirement, or a rule that drivers must carry car insurance, but the Granite State does impose restrictions on the use of cell phones while driving. The state continues to debate regulations for self-driving or autonomous vehicles and a host of other issues.
