Gender pay gap in NH?

According to a new report from the National Partnership for Women and Families, women in New Hampshire are paid 76 cents for every dollar paid to men.

That is a larger pay gap than the national average, and the largest pay gap in New England.

The report calculated the pay gap based on median annual wages of all men and women who worked full time, year round in 2014, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

However, the report did not calculate the wage gap to adjust for factors such as industry, education, and time off to care for family.  Conservative think tanks have argued that the national pay gap shrinks to roughly 5% or less when you consider these factors.

The pay gap is also much smaller for millennial women.  In 2015 the Pew Research Center reported that young women earned 93 cents for every dollar paid to men.
