According to a new ranking from WalletHub, New Hampshire is the third best state in the nation for military retirees.

The ranking considered twenty-one factors, from the number of VA health facilities to the number of arts and leisure establishments.

New Hampshire scored particularly high on the number of job opportunities for veterans and the percent of veteran-owned businesses.

New Hampshire did not score as well on factors related to veterans’ health, in part because New Hampshire is the only state in the nation without a full-service VA hospital.

Maine also scored in the top ten states for military retirees, coming in at number seven.  Massachusetts ranked nineteenth, and Vermont came in thirtieth.

The top state for military retirees was Florida.  Washington, D.C. came in last.
