The general election is November 6, 2018. Not sure where to vote? Here’s how to find out:

If you are not registered to vote by Election Day, you can register at the polling place.

Do I need anything else to vote?

New Hampshire has a voter ID law, so a voter must verify their identity to get a ballot. This means showing photo ID or signing an affidavit.

What if I can’t make it to the polls?

If you know you will not be able to make it to the polls on Election Day, you may qualify for an absentee ballot. You may request an absentee ballot if:

  • You will be out of town on Election Day
  • You cannot appear on Election Day due to observance of a religious holiday
  • You cannot vote in person due to a disability
  • You have an employment obligation – including caring for a family member – that will make you unavailable during polling hours
  • You are a survivor of domestic violence, have a protective order, or are participating in the Attorney General’s address confidentiality program

You can print an absentee ballot request, sign and mail it to your town clerk, and receive an absentee ballot back in the mail. Given the time it takes for snail-mail, if it is close to Election Day, it may be better to go in person to your clerk’s office to request or deliver an absentee ballot.
